A selection of my recent and past work, some themes persist
Every day the landscape I live in and travel through fills my vision and inspires my art.
I have painted and sketched animals since five years old nothing has changed.
I work from live animals in farmyards and the countryside and from my own photographs.
(I no longer take commissions for pet portraits)
I regularly try to join the lovely sketching groups in my region and on my travels. We sketch, paint, and chat outdoors
or in the nearest cafe or pub in challenging weather conditions.
I have attended life drawing since my A-level years and hope to continue into my dotage it is very meditative
and I have recently been creating music playlists to sketch by.
I use recycled materials which I source on my doorstep, locally or on my travels, turning rubbish
into art. From childhood scrapbooks to art installations in exhibition spaces, collage has been an
everlasting river through my art life.
My daily walks, travels around the UK and love of gardening feed my art and photography.
The world is my oyster for inspiration, texture and colour.
This is very important to me as my eyesight has deteriorated over the years and my late father went blind.
I run a risk of blindness or further deterioration in future. My precious eyes are my camera in the world.
I do love a quirky image, accidental mark-making or odd found object and this is reflected in my creative work,
especially my photography. Happenchance is one of my favourite words.
